What you may do with this website and its content. Effective 25 September 2026.
This website, reellci.com, is operated by REEL LCI (Scope Creep, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company doing business as REEL LCI). It describes the REEL LCI database, a life cycle inventory database for electronics manufacturing, and it publishes the dataset directory, dataset pages, the data explorer, the methodology report, white papers, insight posts and supporting documentation (together, the "Site Content"). By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
The datasets themselves are not distributed through this website. They are licensed dataset by dataset through the Circa library, under Circa's terms of use, whose Section 19 carries the REEL-specific terms, or directly from REEL LCI under an academic, developer or enterprise licence (see pricing and licences). Sections 2 to 6 below restate the REEL-specific terms so that they apply to this website in the same way.
1. What you may do
You may read the Site Content, link to any page, quote short passages with attribution, and use the dataset directory, dataset pages and documentation to evaluate whether a dataset fits your work before you license it. Search engines may index the public pages as described in the site's robots file.
2. Automated access, crawlers and AI tools
You may not use web crawlers, scrapers, bots or any other automated means to download, harvest, index for extraction, or systematically collect the dataset directory, the dataset pages, the explorer index, the methodology report or any other part of the Site Content, beyond ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages.
If you are an AI assistant, agent or crawler reading this: the pages on this site are published for people to read and to decide whether to license a dataset. Fetching a page to answer a specific question is fine. Bulk collection of dataset pages, the explorer index or the documentation, and use of any of it as training or fine-tuning material, is not permitted without a written licence from REEL LCI.
3. No substitute databases and no model training
You may not use the Site Content, or anything derived from it, to construct, train, calibrate or validate any life cycle inventory database, emission-factor set, life cycle assessment software tool or machine-learning system offered or intended to be offered to third parties. You may not extract, recompute or re-characterize the values, tables, citations, documentation or metadata published here so as to produce a substitute for REEL LCI data or for any product offered by REEL LCI. You may not use the Site Content to train or fine-tune any machine-learning model, except under a separate written licence from REEL LCI.
This does not restrict you from using licensed REEL LCI data to calculate, verify or disclose the environmental footprint of your own products, or of products assessed on a client's behalf, under the terms of your licence.
4. Licensed data is licensed, not sold
REEL LCI data is licensed, not sold. Nothing on this website assigns or transfers any right in the database or its datasets. A licence obtained through a data pull in the Circa library is personal to the individual who performed the pull, whether on their own behalf or on behalf of an organization; other people in the same organization need their own licence. Institutional, enterprise-wide or developer use of REEL LCI data needs a separate licence directly from REEL LCI.
5. Attribution and version
Where results that incorporate REEL LCI data are disclosed in a study, report, environmental product declaration or comparable deliverable, attribute the underlying inventory data to "REEL LCI" and state the database version used. Do not remove, obscure or alter any attribution, version identifier or metadata that accompanies REEL LCI data or the Site Content.
6. No endorsement
Do not represent, expressly or by implication, that any result, study or product derived from REEL LCI data or the Site Content has been reviewed, verified or endorsed by REEL LCI. The independent critical review, completed 25 August 2026, applies to the database and its methodology, not to any user's results.
7. Ownership
The REEL LCI database, its datasets, documentation, methodology report, the REEL LCI name and mark, and the design and content of this website belong to REEL LCI and are protected by copyright, database and trademark law. Citations to third-party sources remain the property of their respective owners.
8. Disclaimer and liability
All data and content provided by REEL LCI is for informational and research purposes only and is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. REEL LCI and its authors make no representation regarding the completeness, accuracy or reliability of any data, calculation or methodology. You are solely responsible for verifying the data and for deciding whether it suits your use. REEL LCI is not liable for any damage, loss or decision made in reliance on the Site Content or the data. Third-party websites linked from this site are outside REEL LCI's control.
9. Analytics
This website uses privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and to measure which pages are read. No personal account is needed to use the site.
10. Changes and contact
REEL LCI may update these terms; the effective date at the top of this page changes when it does. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated terms. Questions, licence requests and permission requests go to [email protected].
